RTGS 24x7x365 go-live! A historic moment for digital payments in India.

14 December 2020

Montran was a significant part of this milestone as the application partner for NG-RTGS at Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and RTGS payment processing for many key banks in India
NG-RTGS is amongst the first RTGS systems to go 24x7x365 and one of the highest volume processing RTGS applications in the world.

Montran has delivered a high quality and high performance functionality to help businesses process high value transactions round the clock.

Montran once again demonstrated its capability to process transactions on a 24×7, after our success with NEFT 24×7 in 2019.

Along with the regulatory functionality, Montran also developed bank-specific functionalities in an extremely challenging timeline. The lockdown situation did not deter the team from delivering the functionality with meticulous implementation and uninterrupted support.

As a part of the 24x7x365 implementation, Montran delivered banks the support they needed to transition to 24x7x365. The team provided a comprehensive step-by-step solution to ensure a smooth transition. The approach, development, testing and subsequent go-live happened in a sequential and orderly manner, resulting in an easy and well-ordered delivery.

15th Dec 2020 being the go-live date, RBI inaugurated the event at 12 a.m. on 14th Dec 2020 and invited Montran to be a part of this historic and significant event. It was presided and launched by the Deputy Governor – Shri B. P. Kanungo and many high-level officials of RBI and IFTAS were a part of the event. They appreciated the efforts of Montran for their noteworthy contribution in the go-live.

For many businesses and financial institutions, this go-live was a milestone! For the team at Montran, it was just another day at work and business as usual.

Subsequent to the go-live, the central NG-RTGS payment system achieved a milestone on 28th Dec 2020 with the highest volume of transactions processed in a day i.e., 9,63,893 transactions; thereby surpassing its previous record of 9,09,109 transactions processed on 31st Mar 2018.
